Mercedes-Benz SLK is a German passenger sports car, the prototype version of which (the so-called concept car) was presented to the public for the first time during the Paris Motor Show in 1994, and its serial production started in 1996 and is still ongoing. The Mercedes-Benz SLK is unusual in terms of body classification, because it has an electrically foldable metal roof (so-called Vario-Roof), which quickly turns the coupe into a convertible body and vice versa. To date, three generations of this car have been created. The first one (factory designation: R170) was produced in 1996-2004. It was powered by engines with a capacity of 2 to 3.2 liters and a maximum power of 134 to 215 HP (without the version developed in cooperation with AMG). The second generation (designation: R171) was produced from 2004 to 2011. Compared to the previous one, the design, electronic equipment and the most powerful engine have changed - now they have power up to 268 HP with a capacity of 3.5 liters. It was installed in the SLK 350 model. Finally, the last generation (R172) entered production in 2011. In this generation, the range of available models has been expanded, the design has been significantly changed - especially the body - and new drive units in the SLK version have been used, with a maximum power of 302 HP.
