In the F100-PW-200 version, the motor is approx. 490 cm long with a minimum diameter of 88 cm. The weight of the "dry" engine is 1,467 kilograms. The thrust generated by the engine was 64.9 kN, and with the afterburner - 105.7 kN. The Pratt and Whitney F100 engine was created in connection with the USAF and US Navy's desire to jointly purchase a new engine for the F-15 Eagle and F-14 Tomcat aircraft. Finally, the F100 engine was used primarily on the F-15 Eagle and in many versions of the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Several versions of this engine were developed in the course of production, including: F100-PW-100 (basic version of the engine with 64.9 kN thrust without afterburner), F100-PW-200 (modified version of the PW-100 used on F-16 machines). ), F100-PW-220 (version with increased reliability and - probably - a much longer service life) or F100-PW-229 (version using the experience gained from working on the F119 engine with increased thrust, used on the F-15E and some F- 16 Fighting Falcon).
General Electric F110 is an American air two-flow turbojet engine with an afterburner from the Cold War and modern times. The first successful engine start-up took place in the early 1980s. Mass production started shortly after. In the F110 version, the engine measures up to 590 cm in length with a diameter of 118 cm. The weight of the "dry" engine is up to 2,000 kilograms. The thrust generated by the engine is 73.9 kN, and with the afterburner in the F110-GE-129 version - 131 kN. The General Electric F110 engine was originally developed for the needs of the US Navy, which aimed to replace the Pratt and Whitney TF30 engines in the Grumman F-14A, generating too little thrust and having problems with airflow at high speeds, with other propulsion units. In order to minimize the risk of the project and accelerate the development work, the General Electric company decided to use many elements from the F101 engine, which was then being developed for the B-1 Lancer bomber. Finally, a successful power unit was created that meets the requirements of the US Navy. During the production of the General Electric F110 engine, several versions were created, including: F110-GE-400 (basic version, mounted on F-14 B and D aircraft), F110-GE-100 (version with a shortened nozzle was used on F-16C Block 30 aircraft), F110-GE-129 (version with increased thrust, used e.g. on F-16C Block 50 aircraft) or F110-GE-132 (modernized F110-GE-129 engine with increased thrust, used on F16E Block 60 aircraft and some versions of the F-15 Eagle).
