Advanced Modeling AMC72018 FAB-500 M-54 High-Explosive 500 kg bomb set

The FAB-500 M was a Soviet, general-purpose, Cold War, general-purpose, airborne demolition bomb. In the FAB-500 M-62 version, the bomb is 242.5 cm long with a diameter of 400 millimeters. Its weight is 500 kilograms, and the mass of the explosive is 300 kilograms. The explosive material is Torpex with the explosive power of about 50% greater than that of TNT.

The FAB-500 M bomb was developed as a far-reaching development of the FAB-500 aerial bomb from the Second World War. In the course of production, three main variants of this bomb were created. The first version was the FAB-500 M-54 bomb, which was relatively small (156 cm long, 440 mm in diameter), but carrying an explosive charge of 201 kg and having high aerodynamic drag. However, it was one of the most popular bombs used by the armed forces of the Warsaw Pact countries. The second version is the FAB-500 M-62 with significantly improved aerodynamics and a redesigned nose piece. It can be dropped from heights of 570 to 12,000 meters. The third development version is the FAB-500 M-62 T, which has a significantly greater thermal resistance and is designed for flights at high speeds. It was very often dropped from MiG-25 and Su-27 planes.
