The Messerschmitt P.1101 is a project of a German fighter jet engine in a mid-wing configuration with oblique wings and a classic tail. The plane was to be a fighter and a battlefield close reconnaissance machine. The Junkers Jumo 004B engine was planned to be used as the propulsion unit, although ultimately the aircraft was to use the Heinkel-Hirth He-S 011A engine. After the war, the only surviving specimen fell into the hands of the Americans in Oberammergau, who thoroughly examined it. He became the basis for the creation of the Bell X-5 aircraft.
