The Boeing P-26 is an American, single-engine, low-wing, all-metal fighter with an open cockpit, fixed landing gear and classic tail. It was the first mass-produced (1933-1936) single-wing fighter in the US aviation. The prototype with the 550HP Pratt-Whitney R-1340-21 engine turned out to be a maneuverable machine, light and easy to pilot, and during the tests it achieved a high maximum speed. After minor changes, in December 1933, mass production of the aircraft began, under the designation P-26A. A year later, a modernized version of the P-26B was created, to use the Pratt-Whitney R-1340-33 engine with a power of 600 HP and a different fuel system, but due to problems in the shutdowns of these engines, the same ones were installed as in the "A" version. The machine was one of the USAAC's primary fighters and was used at the very beginning of the Pacific War. However, they were quickly withdrawn from the line (by mid-1942) and served as training machines. They were exported, among others. to China, Philippines, Spain. They were replaced by the P-35 and P-36. Technical data (P-26A version): length: 7.18 m, wingspan: 8.5 m, height: 3.04 m, maximum speed: 377 km / h, rate of climb: 3.65 m / s, maximum range: 1000 km, ceiling practical: 8350m, armament: fixed - 2 Browning 1919 machine guns cal.7,62mm, suspended - up to 90 kg of bombs.
