Trumpeter 04517 Russian Navy Udaloy Class Destroyer Severomorsk

Severomorsk is a modern, Russian, and previously Soviet, classic-propelled destroyer. The keel for this unit was laid in 1984, the launch took place in December 1985, and the entry into service took place in 1987. The total length of the ship is 163.5 meters and a width of 19.3 meters. Full displacement is around 7,900 tons, and maximum speed is around 34-35 knots. The on-board armament of the ship includes, among others: two quadruple SS-N-14 rocket launchers, 8 SA-N-9 rocket launchers, two single 100 mm cannons and 4 30 mm AK-630 sets. The unit is based on two Kamow Ka.-25 or Ka-27 helicopters.

Severomorsk is one of the 12 active destroyers belonging to the Udaloy I class (Project 1155). Units of this type were designed and built as highly specialized anti-submarine ships (ZOP). Considering this fact, it is not surprising that they have a very rich armament and electronic equipment intended for destroying enemy submarines, while their ability to fight surface and air targets was treated as secondary - especially when compared to the Sowremiennyj destroyers. This can be seen on the example of the air group used, which consists of two ZOP helicopters, which were previously rather unheard of on Soviet units. Udaloj I-class units were also built to operate in larger combat teams. One of the destroyers belonging to this class is Severomorsk, which is currently in service with the Northern Fleet.
