Part S72-239 Shvetsov M-11 engine for Po-2 KP

Shvetsov M-11 (Eng. Shvetsov M-11 ) is a Soviet aircraft engine from the interwar period, World War II and the post-war period. Its first prototypes were built in the early 1920s, and the first successful start-up took place in 1923. The engine proved highly successful with global total production in excess of 100,000 units. The capacity of this power unit (version M-11A) was 8.6 liters, and the weight of the "dry" engine of this type did not exceed 165 kilograms. The presented power unit is an air-cooled 5-cylinder radial engine with a maximum power of 100-110 HP. The Szwiecow M-11 engine was developed by AD Szwiecow in cooperation with NB Okromieszek. This engine was to become the new, basic power unit for Soviet light training and training machines. Initially, he suffered from numerous so-called childhood diseases, especially a very short life, but with time these problems were overcome, thanks to which, from 1926, large-series production could start. It is worth adding that the Shwiecow M-11 was the first air-cooled radial engine to be produced in large quantities in the Soviet Union. It was used in many aircraft manufactured in the USSR, including such machines as: Polikarpov Po-2, Yakovlev UT-1 or UT-2, but also Yak-18.
